A single by Bill Hall started a game-winning ninth-inning rally. A bunt and intentional walk followed to load the bases. Counsell, pinch-hitting, lined to right-fielder Jay Bruce, scoring Hall.

Sabathia's homer, a solo shot in the third inning, was his second this season. Gabe Kapler added an RBI double for the Brewers.

Adam Dunn and David Ross drove in the Reds' runs with sacrifice flies.

David Weathers (2-5), the victim of Milwaukee's winning rally, took the loss.
