MLB: St. Louis 8, N.Y. Mets 7

ST. LOUIS, July 3 (UPI) -- Troy Glaus hit his second homer of the game with two out in the ninth inning Wednesday, giving the St. Louis Cardinals a wild 8-7 win over the New York Mets.

Glaus hit a three-run shot as part of a four-run first inning, but the Cardinals eventually surrendered the lead when the Mets scored three times in the seventh.

A two-run homer by Chris Duncan in the eighth lifted the Cardinals back into a 7-7 tie and Glaus won it when he hit a 3-2 pitch from Carlos Muniz (0-1) over the wall in left. It was his 13th homer of the season.

Ryan Franklin (2-2) got the win by retiring the side in order on 12 pitches in the top of the ninth.

The game was delayed by rain for 45 minutes in the third inning.
