MLB: Detroit 7, Seattle 4

SEATTLE, May 31 (UPI) -- A two-run triple by Brandon Inge highlighted a seven-run first inning Friday and the Detroit Tigers coasted to a 7-4 victory over Seattle.

The Tigers sent 12 batters to the plate in the first and, although they did not manage another run the rest of the game, they ended Seattle's hopes for its first three-game winning streak since mid-April.

Seattle starter Carlos Silva (3-5) retired only two men and gave up seven runs on seven hits.

Staked to a big lead before he took the mound, Nate Robertson (3-5) survived 5 2/3 innings to get the win. He allowed four runs on four hits.

After the first two batters singled against Silva in the first, a base hit by Carlos Guillen drove in the inning's first run. Marcus Thames doubled home another and Miguel Cabrera plated the third run of the inning with a single.

A fielder's choice grounder by Jeff Larish produced another score. With Larish on second and Edgar Renteria on first with a single, Inge tripled to center to make it 6-0. A ground-rule double by Curtis Granderson brought home Inge.
