Adrian Gonzalez and Scott Hairston singled in front of Greene's home run. Winning pitcher Shawn Estes had a two-out single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored the eventual winning run on Jody Gerut's double.

Estes (1-0) gave up three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings in his first start since April 5, 2006, against San Francisco. He missed the entire 2007 campaign while recovering from elbow surgery, but got his 100th career victory Tuesday.

Marquis (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing nine hits with one walk. Alfonso Soriano led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run, and Reed Johnson doubled home two runs in the second, giving the Cubs an early 3-0 lead.
