MLB: Toronto 1, Chi. White Sox 0

TORONTO, May 5 (UPI) -- Dustin McGowan pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings and Matt Stairs homered Monday, pacing the Toronto Blue Jays to a 1-0 win over the Chicago White Sox.

McGowan (2-2) allowed just four hits while striking out six and walking none. B.J. Ryan escaped three walks in the ninth for his fifth save.

Shannon Stewart went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Vernon Wells and Aaron Hill each doubled.

The Blue Jays had the first four-game sweep by either team in the history of the series.

Javier Vazquez (3-3) suffered the loss despite allowing only one run on eight hits in 7 2/3 innings while striking out nine. Juan Uribe had two of the four hits for the White Sox, who lost their sixth straight.
