DENVER, May 1 (UPI) -- Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will miss at least eight weeks with a complete tear of a tendon in his left quadriceps.
Tulowitzki sustained the injury against San Francisco Tuesday night while charging a grounder in the first inning.
"With the help of God he will be back in two months," his agent, Paul Cohen, told the Rocky Mountain News Thursday. "Maybe by the weekend or early next week we will have a better idea of how long this will be."
Tulowitzki, 23, has struggled this season with a batting average of just .152. He has one home run and 11 RBI after signing a six-year contract last off-season.
In 2007, his rookie season, Tulowitzki batted .291 with 24 home runs and 99 RBI to help the Rockies capture the National League pennant.
The team said on its Web site that his replacement will be 2005 starter Clint Barmes.
