MLB: St. Louis 5, Houston 1

ST. LOUIS, April 27 (UPI) -- Kyle Lohse gave up an early run, and then shut down Houston batters en route to a 5-1 St. Louis Cardinals victory over the Astros Sunday.

Lohse (3-0) scattered four hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one before he was relieved by Kyle McClellan, who earned his first save this season.

Troy Glaus and Albert Pujols each homered for the Cardinals.

Glaus socked a two-run homer and Ryan Ludwick a two-run double in a four-run fifth inning. Pujols hit a solo shot in the seventh.

Mark Loretta drove in Houston's run with a single in the second.

Brandon Backe (1-3) was the losing pitcher, giving up four runs and five hits in five innings.
