MLB: Colorado 11, Houston 5

HOUSTON, April 19 (UPI) -- Troy Tulowitzki, Jeff Baker and Chris Iannetta all drove in two runs in the first inning Friday and the Colorado Rockies went on to down Houston 11-5.

The Rockies showed no weariness after playing 22 innings Thursday in San Diego, a marathon contest that forced a delay in Colorado's arrival at its Houston hotel until 8:15 a.m. local time.

After the Rockies scored six runs in the first, Houston answered with four in the bottom half of the inning against Franklin Morales. But Morales (1-1) did not allow another run and got the win by lasting five innings.

Houston starter Chris Sampson (0-2) retired only two batters in taking the loss.

After Sampson loaded the bases with one away in the first, Tulowitzki drove in two runs with a double to left. Jeff Baker's single accounted for two runs and after Clint Barmes singled Baker to third, both runners came in on a double by Iannetta.

Garrett Atkins' RBI single was part of Colorado's three-run fourth and he added a two-run homer in the eighth.
