MLB: N.Y. Yankees 5, Tampa Bay 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 15 (UPI) -- Hideki Matsui homered and had two RBI Tuesday, pacing the New York Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Andy Pettitte (2-1) allowed three runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in seven innings. Derek Jeter finished with three hits, a run scored and a run batted in for the Yankees.

Bobby Abreu added an RBI for New York, which has won four of its last six games.

Jonny Gomes, Mike DiFelice and Jason Bartlett each had two hits and an RBI for Tampa Bay, which has lost three of its last four games. Edwin Jackson (2-1) suffered the loss after he allowed five runs on four hits in five innings.
