Ex-Sonics owner may sue to get team back

SEATTLE, April 15 (UPI) -- Former Seattle SuperSonics owner Howard Schultz may sue to get the team back because its new owners plan to move it, an attorney said.

Schultz sold the team in 2006 to the Professional Basketball Club LLC, led by Clay Bennett.

Attorney Richard Yarmuth, representing Schultz, said a lawsuit would contend that the new owners violated terms of the deal by not making a good-faith effort to keep the Sonics in Seattle, the Seattle Times reported Tuesday.

The ownership group is planning to move the club to Oklahoma City.

Schultz would sue to rescind the sale, not for monetary damage, the Times report said.

National Basketball Association owners are to vote Friday on the proposed move of the Sonics to Oklahoma City.
