LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux and three relievers combined on a five-hit shutout Sunday when the San Diego Padres edged the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0.
The only run in a pitching duel between Maddux and losing pitcher Chad Billingsley came on Paul McAnulty's sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning.
Jim Edmonds led off the fourth with a walk, moved to third on Khalil Greene's double and -- after Josh Bard popped out to third -- McAnulty plated Edmonds with a fly ball to left.
The Padres, who had only six hits, have won two of their last three games following a two-game skid.
Maddux (2-0) surrendered two hits in five innings. Joe Thatcher, Cla Meredith, Heath Bell and Trevor Hoffman each pitched one scoreless inning, with Hoffman recording his fourth save.
Billingsley (0-2) surrendered one run and four hits in five innings, with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Four relievers finished up for the Dodgers, who have lost five of six.
