MLB: Arizona 4, Cincinnati 2

CINCINNATI, March 31 (UPI) -- Chris Young, Eric Byrnes and Jeff Salazar all hit solo homers Monday, powering the Arizona Diamondbacks' 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

Brandon Webb (1-0) worked six innings to earn the victory for the Diamondbacks, who are coming off a season in which they won the NL West.

Webb allowed two runs and three hits with four walks and six strikeouts. Chad Qualls, Tony Pena and Brandon Lyon each pitched a hitless inning.

Aaron Harang (0-1), also making his third straight Opening Day start, took the loss for the Reds, gave up three runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts in six innings. Brandon Phillips tripled in a run and scored in the loss.
