COL BKB: Kansas 75, Nevada-Las Vegas 56

OMAHA, March 22 (UPI) -- Mario Chalmers scored 17 points Saturday to help Kansas pull away in the second half for a 75-56 win over UNLV in a second-round NCAA game.

Russell Robinson had 13 points and Brandon Rush 12 for the top-seeded Jayhawks (33-3), who will play next Friday in Detroit against either Villanova or Siena in the Midwest Regional semifinals.

Kansas, which beat Portland State in the first round Thursday, posted its ninth straight victory.

This is the sixth time in the last eight seasons dating back to 2001 that the Jayhawks have advanced to the Sweet 16.

Wink Adams had 25 points for UNLV (27-8), which beat Kent State Thursday.
