Iginla leads NHL's weekly honors

NEW YORK, March 17 (UPI) -- Calgary right winger Jarome Iginla accumulated eight points last week and was selected the NHL top star of the week, the league said Monday.

Iginla was among the three weekly NHL honorees for performances in games March 10-16. Also honored were Pittsburgh right winger Petr Sykora and Florida goaltender Tomas Vokoun.

Iginla had an NHL-best eight points on five goals and three assists in four games last week. His goal in last Monday's game with St. Louis made him the all-time Flames franchise leader in career goals with 365. He has 45 goals and 42 assists on the year, giving him 87 points and putting him in third place in total points and goals.

Sykora had three goals and three assists and had the game-winner in both of the Penguins' games last week. He had two goals and two assists in a Sunday game with Philadelphia that allowed him to reach the 25-goal mark for the ninth consecutive season.

Vokoun was 3-0 last week with a 1.67 goals-against average while helping the Panthers extend their winning streak to seven games. He made 88 saves on the week and his 1,862 saves this year lead the NHL.
