NBA: Atlanta 99, New York 93

ATLANTA, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Josh Smith started a six-point run in the final two minutes Friday that allowed the Atlanta Hawks to escape with a 99-93 victory over the New York Knicks.

There were 20 ties and 39 lead changes in the Hawks' second straight win. New York has lost three out of five.

Smith scored 25 points and both Joe Johnson and Al Horford had 20. Horford's total was a career high.

New York took a 91-90 lead with 2:51 remaining on a jumper by Zach Randolph, who led the Knicks with 29 points and 17 rebounds.

Almost two minutes went by without any scoring before Mike Bibby lofted a pass to Smith for a dunk that touched off the critical six-point Atlanta run. Bibby's two free throws with 11.5 seconds remaining gave the Hawks a 96-91 advantage.
