LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Jarrett Jack scored 13 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday and Portland survived two late misses by Corey Maggette to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers 82-80.

The game was close throughout the fourth quarter and Maggette brought the Clippers within a point when he made a jumper with 13 seconds to go.

Despite his big effort in the final period, Jack missed two free throw attempts with 11 seconds left and the Clippers claimed the rebound.

Maggette, however, missed a jump shot with 10 seconds remaining. Von Wafer then went to the line for the Trail Blazers, but converted only one of two. Maggette had a chance to send the game into overtime, but he missed again just before the buzzer.

Jack finished with 21 points and Martell Webster had 15 for Portland.

The Clippers, who lost their third straight, were led by Maggette with 32. Los Angeles shot just 31 percent from the field.
