NHL: New Jersey 4, N.Y. Islanders 2

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Third-period goals by Zach Parise and Brian Gionta boosted the New Jersey Devils past the New York Islanders 4-2 Saturday for their fourth straight victory.

With the scored tied 2-2, Parise put the Devils ahead at the 2:30 mark in the third period.

On the play, he took a long lead pass off the boards from Travis Zajac, rushed up the middle and slipped a one-timer past Rick DiPietro for his 25th goal this season.

Gionta's 16th at 4:43 was the contest's final score. Patrik Elias (power play in the first) and John Madden (shorthanded in the first) also scored.

Martin Brodeur made 19 saves after 21 New York shots and was credited with an assist for the Devils, who had lost their previous five games against New York.

Josef Vasicek, in the first, and Ruslan Fedotenko, in the second, accounted for the scoring by the Islanders, whose six-game winning streak ended.

DiPierto was beaten four times on 42 shots.
