CHICAGO, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Martin Havlat scored the eventual game-winner Sunday, boosting the Chicago Blackhawks past the Colorado Avalanche 2-1.
His eighth goal this season gave Chicago a 2-0 advantage at 2:53 of the second period.

Chicago's other goal was scored by Dustin Byfuglien at 4:48 of the first. Defenseman James Wisniewski assisted on both goals. Goalie Patrick Lalime stopped 21 of 22 shots.
The Blackhawks, who have won three in a row, had dropped five of their previous six home games.
Jaroslav Hlinka's seventh goal this season at 17:35 of the third period prevented a shutout loss. Netminder Jose Theodore yielded two goals on 27 shots for the Avalanche, whose losing streak rose to three in a row.
Chicago won the season series 3-1.
