COL BKB: UCLA 67, Washington St. 59

PULLMAN, Wash., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Kevin Lowe scored four points in an eight-point run late in the game Thursday, lifting No. 4 UCLA to a 67-59 win over Washington State.

The Bruins beat the 17th-ranked Cougars for the second time this year, finally putting together an outburst that broke open a close game.

Russell Westbrook led the way for UCLA with 18 points and Darren Collison had 16.

Lowe made five of eight shots from the field in scoring 14 for the Bruins (21-2, 9-1 Pac-10).

UCLA owned a one-point lead when Josh Shipp scored on a layup with 7:22 remaining. That touched off a surge that gave the Bruins a nine-point cushion with 4:35 to play. Lowe finished off the run with a tip-in at the end of a sequence in which the Bruins claimed four offensive rebounds before scoring.

Washington State (17-5, 5-5) was led by Kyle Weaver with 13 points.
