OXFORD, Miss., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- David Huertas scored 17 points Wednesday and Mississippi set a school record with its 13th straight win -- 86-50 over Alabama A&M.
The 18th-ranked and unbeaten Rebels broke a record for consecutive victories that had stood for 82 years.
Chris Warren scored 15 points and Eniel Polynice had 13. Mississippi has won 19 in a row at home against non-conference opponents.
Alabama A&M (3-7) was led by LaNorris Smith. The Bulldogs lost their fourth straight.
Mississippi scored the game's first 13 points and soon put together an 11-0 run. The Rebels held Alabama A&M to 24 percent shooting in the first half and took a 46-19 lead at intermission.
Mississippi will open Southeastern Conference play next Wednesday at Tennessee.
