NHL: New Jersey 1, Calgary 0

CALGARY, Alberta, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- A goal by Patrick Elias 25 seconds into overtime Sunday lifted the New Jersey Devils past the Calgary Flames 1-0.

It was New Jersey's first 1-0 contest this season and ran Elias' goal total to eight.

Calgary's Craig Conroy mishandled the puck in the offensive zone, allowing the Devils to head the other way on an odd-man rush.

Elias then collected the puck and quickly fed Brian Gionta.

He passed the puck right back to Elias, who beat Miikka Kiprusoff with a one-timer.

Veteran goalie Martin Brodeur stopped all 30 shots he faced to record his 95th career shutout for the Devils, who have won two in a row and three of their last four games.

Kiprusoff made 21 saves on 22 shots for the Flames, who have lost consecutive games in overtime at home after a 6

0 road trip.

There were no power play goals on 10 combined man-advantage chances.
