NHL: Atlanta 3, Ottawa 2

ATLANTA, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Todd White scored the tie-breaking goal in the third period Thursday to give the Atlanta Thrashers a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

With the score tied 2-2, White zipped his ninth goal this season past Ottawa net-minder Martin Gerber 47 seconds into the third.

Atlanta's Eric Boulton and Ilya Kovalchuk scored one each.

Keri Lehtonen stopped 28 of 30 shots for the Thrashers, who prevented a four-game sweep of the season series.

Ottawa's goals were scored by Jason Spezza in the first and Daniel Alfredsson in the second.

Gerber stopped 42 of 45 shots for the Senators, who had their six-game winning streak broken.

On the power play, Atlanta went 1 for 5 and Ottawa was 0 for 2.
