NFL: San Francisco 20, Cincinnati 13

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Shaun Hill threw a touchdown pass and ran for a score in his first start Saturday, guiding the San Francisco 49ers to a 20-13 defeat of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hill completed 21 of 28 passes for 197 yards. The 27-year-old made his first start after Trent Dilfer suffered a concussion last week while starting in place of Alex Smith, who is out for the season with a separated right shoulder.

Frank Gore had 138 yards on 29 carries for San Francisco (4-10), which won at home for the first time since the season opener.

Carson Palmer completed 19 of 31 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown for the Bengals (5-9), who have dropped two of their last three.

Chad Johnson also had six catches for 78 yards in the loss.
