NBA: Phoenix 103, Utah 98

PHOENIX, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Grant Hill and Shawn Marion provided the key baskets down the stretch Wednesday, allowing Phoenix to fight off Utah 103-98.

Phoenix put a halt to a two-game losing streak, but almost let an eight-point lead get away late in the contest.

Utah went on a seven-point run and closed within 94-93 when Andrei Kirilenko made a three-pointer with 2:24 to play. But the Jazz could not score again until there were only 11 seconds remaining.

Hill made a layup with 1:33 left to put the Suns in front by three and after Deron Williams missed two foul shots for Utah, Marion scored on a rebound to push the advantage to five with 15 seconds to go.

The Phoenix lead grew to six before Williams made a three-pointer with three seconds to play. Steve Nash accounted for the final score with two free throws with a second remaining.

Nash led the Suns with 29 points and Marion had 24.

Utah, which has dropped five in a row, was led by Carlos Boozer with 24. The consecutive losses by Phoenix had come after the Suns had won five straight.
