NHL: Pittsburgh 2, Vancouver 1 (SO)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Kris Letang scored in the sixth round of a shootout Saturday night to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins past Vancouver 2-1.

Erik Christensen scored in the first round and Trevor Linden answered with a goal in the third round. After Dany Sabourin turned away Daniel Sedin in the sixth round, Letang won it with a forehand shot off a backhand fake on Robert Luongo.

Petr Sykora scored in regulation for Pittsburgh, which won its fourth straight game and its seventh out of eight. Sabourin posted 35 saves.

Kesler scored in regulation and Luongo made 31 stops for the Canucks, who lost for the first time in their last three games.
