ST. LOUIS, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Rams said they would retire the jersey of seven-time Pro Bowl running back Marshall Faulk during their Dec. 20 game.
The NFL team said Faulk is to be on hand for the game between the Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers in his role as an analyst for the NFL Network. The ceremony in which his jersey No. 28 is raised is set to take place during halftime of the game.
"Marshall has given so much to this organization and was one of the key ingredients that elevated the Rams from the team that won four games in 1998 to a world championship in 1999," said Rams President John Shaw. "This is a wonderful opportunity for the Rams organization and our great fans to say 'thank you.'"
Faulk played five seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, who made him their first-round draft choice in 1994, and seven with the Rams. He was voted to seven Pro Bowls and was selected the most valuable player in the NFL in 2000 when he gained 1,359 yards and scored 18 touchdowns rushing.
His rushing total of 12,279 yards ranks ninth all-time.
