MLB: Houston 8, Cincinnati 5

CINCINNATI, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Hunter Pence homered and Lance Berkman doubled twice Tuesday as the Houston Astros downed the Cincinnati Reds 8-5.

Craig Biggio and Josh Anderson each had two RBI for the Astros.

Houston starter Felipe Paulino (1-1) earned his first career win in his second start, allowing five runs on eight hits over five innings. Dave Borkowski and Chad Qualls combined for three innings of shutout relief. Brad Lidge struck out Joey Votto with the bases loaded in the ninth to pick up his 17th save in 24 chances.

Joey Votto homered and Norris Hopper drove in two runs for the Reds.

Jon Coutlangus (4-2) lost in relief after allowing back-to-back singles by Luke Scott and Anderson.
