Concussion sidelines Zach Thomas

DAVIE, Fla., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Veteran Miami linebacker Zach Thomas will miss Sunday's game against the New York Jets to make a complete recovery from a recent concussion.

The Dolphins noted Friday the seven-time Pro Bowl choice, who has missed a total of 13 games because of injury in his NFL career, likely sustained the injury last Sunday against Dallas.

He was unable to practice this week after complaining of a migraine, and Thursday was sent to a neurologist for tests.

"Zach is a tough guy, and he's going to get through this," fellow linebacker Joey Porter said. "(But) I don't know how long he'll be down."

In two games this season, the 5-foot-11 inch, 228-pound Thomas has 23 tackles (17 solo) and one sack.

On the injury list, Thomas will be joined by safety Donovin Darius (calf) for the key AFC East battle at East Rutherford, N.J.
