Houston had lost 10 of its previous 13 games, but Carlos Lee hit a solo homer and drove in another run as the Astros overcame a two-run homer by Richie Weeks in the ninth that forced the game into extra innings.

Despite giving up the homer to Weeks, Brad Lidge (5-2) stayed on the mound in the 10th and picked up the victory.

Orlando Palmeiro opened the Houston 10th a walk and, after Backe came on to run, Lance Berkman delivered a single. Pence singled one out later off Matt Wise (3-2).

Milwaukee's Prince Fielder hit his 47th homer of the season, tops in the National League.
