MLB: Texas 3, Kansas City 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Hank Blalock drove in two runs and Vicente Padilla threw six scoreless innings Wednesday as Texas edged Kansas City 3-2.

Texas won for the fourth time in five games with Blalock making another contribution since coming off a long stint on the disabled list. He doubled home a run in the second and singled in another in the sixth to give Texas a 3-0 lead.

Padilla (5-9) gave way to Wes Littleton in the seventh and Littleton surrendered a two-run homer to John Buck. Joaquin Benoit was perfect in the ninth to earn his third save.

Kyle Davies (2-4) took the loss, giving up two runs on three hits in five innings.
