MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Mike Redmond had two hits and two RBI Saturday afternoon as the Minnesota Twins beat Kansas City, 6-4, in the opener of a day/night doubleheader.
Both RBI came on a go-ahead double in the bottom of the fifth, which produced the eventual winning runs, giving Minnesota a 6-3 lead, and erasing a 3-2 deficit.
Three Minnesota players had one RBI each, and a run scored on Tony Pena's fourth-inning throwing error.
Luis Rodriguez also had two hits for the Twins, who have won two straight after four losses in a row.
The winner was Carlos Silva (11-13). Joe Nathan recorded his 29th save.
Kansas City’s Shane Costa hit two RBI doubles. Pena had two hits and one RBI, and Alex Gordon added a solo home run as the Royals suffered the third loss in their last four games.
The losing pitcher was Brandon Duckworth (2-4).
