ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Howie Kendrick drove in Garret Anderson with a single off the pitcher's glove with two out in the 10th Friday night as the Los Angeles Angels beat Texas, 7-6.
The Angels won their fifth straight and boosted their American League West lead to 6 1/2 games over Seattle. Los Angeles was coming off a series sweep of Seattle.
Texas tied the game in the ninth on an RBI single by Sammy Sosa, but the Angels won it with a run off Frank Francisco (1-1).
Anderson walked to lead off the 10th and moved to second on a sacrifice by Maicer Izturis. After Kendry Morales was intentionally walked, Casey Kotchman grounded into a force play at second with Anderson going to third.
Kendrick then hit a grounder that glanced off Francisco's glove, allowing Anderson to score.
Darren Oliver (2-0) worked the top of the 10th to get the victory.
