CLEVELAND, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Kenny Lofton drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning Thursday night as the Cleveland Indians edged Seattle, 6-5.
The Indians won their sixth straight and kept their 4 1/2-game lead over second-place Detroit in the AL Central.
Eric O'Flaherty (7-1) opened the ninth, and after retiring one batter he allowed a single to Victor Martinez and then hit Ryan Garko with a pitch. Rick White replaced O'Flaherty and got the second out of the inning before walking Franklin Gutierrez to load the bases.
Lofton worked the count full and then took a pitch high and away to force home pinch-runner Josh Barfield.
Joe Borowski (3-5) picked up the win despite blowing the save in the ninth.
The game was originally scheduled for April 4, but was snowed out.
