MLB: Toronto 5, Oakland 4

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Lyle Overbay's two-run double broke a tie in the eighth inning Tuesday as Toronto held off the Oakland Athletics 5-4.

Matt Stairs also homered to help the Blue Jays, who have have won back-to-back games and are in position to sweep the A's in Oakland for the first time in 14 years.

Brian Wolfe (3-1) secured the victory by pitching two innings in relief of Jesse Litsch, who gave up four hits and two runs over six innings.

Jack Cust drove in a pair of runs for the Athletics, losers of five straight after a season-high tying five-game winning streak.

Andrew Brown (2-1) was tagged with the loss in relief of Chad Gaudin, who yielded five hits and two runs over seven frames.
