MLB: Philadelphia 14, San Diego 2

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard had a three-run homer and four RBI Sunday as Philadelphia romped over San Diego 14-2.

His 34th homer this season came with two outs in the bottom of the second inning. Howard had three hits and scored three times.

Philadelphia’s Chris Coste hit a three-run homer in the fourth, and Jayson Werth had five hits and four RBI. Aaron Rowand had three hits and two RBI as the Phillies snapped a four-game losing streak.

Winning pitcher Kyle Kendrick (7-3) allowed an earned run on six hits in six innings, while John Ennis pitched the last three innings to get his first career save.

San Diego’s Geoff Blum and Mike Cameron both had one RBI. Blum was one of three players with two hits for the Padres, who were trying for a three-game sweep.

Loser Tim Stauffer (0-1) was hammered for 11 earned runs and 11 hits in four innings.
