OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Jack Cust drilled two homeruns Tuesday, as the Oakland Athletics escaped with a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.
The homers were Cust's 19th and 20th of the season and his second career multi-homer game.
Donnie Murphy also homered for Oakland, which had split its last four games at Detroit. Nick Swisher ended 2-for-4 and scored a run in the win.
Lenny DiNardo (7-6) surrendered two runs on six hits with three walks and a strikeout over five-plus frames.
Josh Fields and Juan Uribe both went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Chicago, which failed to rebound from two straight home losses to Seattle.
Jon Garland (8-8) allowed four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks over 5 2/3 innings for the Sox.
