MLB: Minnesota 6, Seattle 1

SEATTLE, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter hit an RBI single in the eighth and a grand slam homer in the top of the ninth Wednesday, cinching Minnesota's 6-1 victory over Seattle.

Hunter's 24th homer this season came off Seattle reliever Sean Green with two outs in the inning, and gave him two hits and five RBI for the game.

Minnesota's other run came on a solo homer by Rondell White in the fifth.

Jason Bartlett and Tommy Watkins also had two hits for the Twins, who won twice in the three-game series.

The winning pitcher was reliever Pat Neshek (7-2).

Seattle's lone run came on Raul Ibanez’ 12th homer in the bottom of the sixth.

Ibanez and Ichiro Suzuki had two hits apiece for the Mariners, who remained tied with the Yankees in the AL wild-card race with their second straight loss.

The loser was Seattle starter Jarrod Washhburn (8-10).
