Lenny DiNardo (6-6) got the win by allowing three runs over six innings. Alan Embree worked the ninth for his 14th save this year.

Kevin Millwood also gave up three runs in six innings, but he escaped with no decision in what was the sixth loss in seven games for the Rangers. A.J. Murray (0-1) suffered the setback.

Bowen put Oakland in front at 4-3 with a solo homer in the seventh and then had a two-run blast in the eighth.
