MLB: Minnesota 11, Kansas City 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Home runs by Michael Cuddyer and Torii Hunter were part of Minnesota's 20-hit attack Wednesday as the Twins downed Kansas City 11-4.

Cuddyer had a solo shot during Minnesota's five-run third inning and Hunter contributed a two-run blast in the fifth that gave the Twins an eight-run lead. Both players had three hits and three RBI

Johan Santana (12-9) picked up the victory, giving up two runs on eight hits in six innings. It was Santana's first win since July 13 and he is unbeaten (9-0) in his last 12 starts against the Royals.

The Royals lost for the fourth time in five games. Odalis Perez (6-11) was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs in seven hits in three innings.
