MLB: Detroit 6, Tampa Bay 4

DETROIT, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Carlos Guillen went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored Monday as the Detroit Tigers used a four-run seventh to slip past the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 6-4.

Magglio Ordonez and Omar Infante also were 3-for-4 for the Tigers, who ended a five-game losing streak and remained a half-game ahead of the New York Yankees in the American League wild card race.

Detroit's Justin Verlander allowed eight hits and four runs in six innings. Zach Miner (2-3) got the win for a third of an inning of a scoreless relief.

Tampa Bay's Edwin Jackson held the Tigers to two runs on seven hits in six innings. But in the seventh, relief pitcher Gary Glover (5-4) gave up five hits and four runs while only getting one out.

B.J. Upton hit a three-run homer for the Devil Rays.
