MLB: LA Angeles 11, Detroit 6

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 28 (UPI) -- Chone Figgins had four hits, one RBI and a run scored and Gary Matthews Jr. drove in three Friday night as the LA Angels beat Detroit, 11-6.

Matthews finished with three hits and two runs scored for the Angels.

Jered Weaver (7-5) allowed six runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings, but still got the win. Weaver walked one and struck out three.

Placido Polanco had five hits, including a home run, and Curtis Granderson homered for the Tigers, who lost their second straight game and their third out of five.

Nate Robertson (6-8) allowed eight runs on 10 hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

The Tigers opened the game with two runs in the first inning, but the Angels came back to score six in the bottom of the first, highlighted by consecutive RBI singles by Robb Quinlan, Matthews and Garret Anderson.
