ST. LOUIS, July 26 (UPI) -- A grand slam by Chris Duncan and a three-run homer by Albert Pujols Thursday night sent the St. Louis Cardinals coasting past the Chicago Cubs, 11-1.
Pujols equaled his season game high with five RBI.
Braden Looper (8-8) gave up a run on five hits in seven innings to get the win. He also drove in a run and scored twice.
The Cubs fell for the third time in five games, with Jason Marquis (7-6) suffering the loss. He allowed six runs on five hits over five innings.
St. Louis scored five times in the fifth to make it 6-0.
With the bases loaded, Marquis hit Pujols with a pitch. That brought up Duncan, who hit a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right for his second grand slam of the season.
The homer by Pujols came in a four-run sixth.
