Robredo upholds No. 1 seed in Austria

KITZBUHEL, Austria, July 25 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed Tommy Robredo and defending champion Agustin Calleri advanced past the second round Wednesday at the Austrian Open.

The tournament's second and third seeds -- Mikhail Youzhny and Juan Carlos Ferrero -- were eliminated.

Robredo reached the round of 16 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Juan-Pablo Guzman, while Calleri, the sixth seed, won over Rainer Eitzinger 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). Juan Ignacio Chela, who lost to Calleri in last year's title match, moved on with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Daniel Koellerer.

Youzhny faded in the second set as he was ousted by Alexander Peya 7-5, 6-0. Andreas Seppi eliminated Ferrero 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-2.

In other matches involving high seeds, No. 5 Juan Monaco defeated Mariano Zabaleta 6-3, 2-6, 6-3; and No. 7 Nicolas Almagro was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Ivan Navarro Pastor.
