MLB: Detroit 4, Minnesota 3

MINNEAPOLIS, July 19 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge drove in the winning run with a 10th inning double Thursday afternoon, lifting the Detroit Tigers to a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Inge also had an RBI single in a three-run seventh, when Detroit's Placido Polanco and Gary Sheffield chipped in RBI doubles.

Polanco had three hits, and three players had two hits for the Tigers, who have won four of their last five games.

The winner was Zach Miner (1-1) and Todd Jones recorded his 26th save.

Minnesota's Luis Castillo, Jason Kubel, and Justin Morneau each drove in one run. Kubel had three hits, including a solo homer in the seventh inning.

Morneau and Jason Bartlett had two hits each for the Twins, who fell nine games behind Detroit in the AL Central.

The losing pitcher was closer Joe Nathan (3-2).
