MLB: Toronto 8, Cleveland 6

TORONTO, July 6 (UPI) -- Vernon Wells hit a homer and drove in three runs Friday night as the Toronto Blue Jays out-lasted Cleveland, 8-6.

Reed Johnson, seeing his first action in almost three months, helped preserve the win by making a spectacular, ninth-inning catch in left field that kept the potential tying run off base. Johnson was activated from the 60-day disabled list earlier in the day after being sidelined with a herniated disk.

Roy Halladay (10-3) survived 5 2/3 innings to get the win, giving up five runs. Jeremy Accardo benefited from Johnson's big catch to pick up his 11th save.

Cleveland lost its third straight, with Cliff Lee (5-5) giving up six runs over four innings.

Wells hit his homer in the fourth to give the Blue Jays a 6-3 lead.
