MLB: Pittsburgh 5, Milwaukee 3

PITTSBURGH, July 4 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche and Ryan Doumit both hit two-run homers Wednesday as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied to beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3.

LaRoche drove in the eventual winning runs in the bottom of the sixth with his 11th homer of the season. Doumit's blast was his fifth of the campaign.

LaRoche had two of the six hits for the Pirates, who spotted Milwaukee a 3-1 lead after one inning but wound up winning their second straight against the NL Central front-runners.

Winner Ian Snell (7-5) gave up three earned runs and nine hits in eight innings, with a walk and five strikeouts -- and held the Brewers scoreless in his last seven innings.

Matt Capps recorded his eighth save.

Milwaukee's Ryan Braun hit a three-run homer in the first, and was one of four players with two hits for the Brewers, who have dropped three of four.

The loser was Claudio Vargas (6-2).
