MLB: Boston 7, Tampa Bay 5

BOSTON, July 4 (UPI) -- Doug Mirabelli and Mike Lowell each drove in two runs Wednesday afternoon to help the Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 7-5.

Mirabelli hit a two-run single in the fourth, and Lowell had two hits, one a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.

Alex Cora, Jacoby Ellsbury and J.D. Drew all had one RBI, and Drew also had two hits as the Red Sox improved to 26-5 against Tampa Bay at Fenway Park since 2004.

Winner Tim Wakefield (9-8) yielded four earned runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. Jonathan Papelbon earned his 20th save this season.

Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena both drove in two runs. Crawford had three hits, while Raul Casanova had two runs, two hits and one RBI for the Devil Rays, who suffered their 10th straight loss.

Loser Edwin Jackson (1-9) surrendered seven earned runs and nine hits in five innings.
