PHILADELPHIA, June 30 (UPI) -- Carlos Beltran hit two home runs Saturday as the New York Mets beat Philadelphia, 8-3.
It was Beltran's second straight two-homer contest. He hit two Friday night, when the Mets won, 5-2, to complete a doubleheader sweep.
He hit a two-run homer in the fifth Saturday, and a solo homer in the seventh.
New York's Paul Lo Duca hit a two-run homer in the first, when David Wright added a solo shot.
Beltran had three runs and four hits, and Lo Duca had three runs, two hits and two RBI. A run scored on an error for the Mets, who have won three straight.
Winner Jorge Sosa (7-3) yielded three runs and four hits in five innings, before leaving with a left-hamstring strain, suffered as a he legged out a sacrifice bunt attempt in the sixth inning.
Pedro Feliciano recorded his first save.
Philadelphia's Ryan Howard hit his 19th homer of the season, a solo blast in the fourth. Carlos Ruiz drove in a run, and a run scored on a double-play for the Phillies, who have lost three in a row.
The loser was J.A. Happ (0-1), in his major league debut.
