PITTSBURGH, June 14 (UPI) -- Kameron Loe, after spending less than a week in the minors, allowed five hits in eight innings Thursday night as the Texas Rangers blanked Pittsburgh, 6-0.
After a poor outing against Detroit Saturday, Loe (2-6) was dispatched to Class AAA Oklahoma. When scheduled starter Brandon McCarthy was placed on the disabled list with a blister, Loe was brought back for Thursday's game.
He received home run support from Jerry Hairston, Travis Metcalf and Gerald Laird, whose three-run shot in the seventh broke open the contest.
Pittsburgh had been trying for its first series sweep since April 24-26. Texas had lost three in a row.
It was Loe's first win since April 21.
Tom Gorzelanny (6-4) took the loss, giving up five runs and seven hits in seven innings.
Hairston led off the game with his homer and Metcalf's blast came in the sixth for a 2-0 lead.
