Barry Bonds hits 747th home run

SAN FRANCISCO, June 11 (UPI) -- San Francisco's Barry Bonds hit his 747th career homer Monday, a two-run shot off Toronto's Josh Towers in the fourth inning.

Bonds is eight homers shy of tying Hank Aaron for the all-time lead. He hit an 0-1 pitch from the right-hander over right field wall.

It was the end of a long homer drought for Bonds, who hadn't hit one in his previous 12 games. His last home run was May 27 against Colorado.

It was Bonds' 13th homer this season and the first time he was facing Towers in his career. Bonds has homered off a major league record 440 pitchers in his career.
